The roots of Wilshire Benefits Group began in 1986 when the managing partners of Northwestern Mutual created employee benefit agencies nationwide to support financial advisors and their clients. David Sokol joined Northwestern Mutual in 2010 to manage the Michigan benefit operation and purchased the company in 2014. Prior to joining Wilshire Benefits Group, David served in the Army as an Officer in Desert Shield/Desert Storm and after returning home he continued in leadership roles with Humana and ADP TotalSource. The core of Wilshire’s value proposition was shaped by the notion that employee benefit brokers must do more than simply sell insurance – we need to be experts in labor & employment laws, compliance, technology platforms, and human capital management to help our clients become better employers.
Today, Wilshire Benefits Group has become one of the largest privately held employee benefit consulting firms in Michigan.
