President and Executive Relationship Lead
Named the 2018 Adviser of the Year by Employee Benefits Adviser magazine, David brings more than 24 years of building relationships as an executive leader in client service and sales of employee benefits, human resource consulting, and outsourcing organizations.
Prior to owning Wilshire Benefits Group, David was the Large Group Market Practice Leader for Humana in Michigan for large groups and select national accounts. He has also served as Regional Vice President of Human Resources and Client Services for ADP TotalSource, a human resource and benefit outsourcing division of Automatic Data Processing.
David Sokol holds his Life, Health & Variable Annuities licenses, Series 6, 7, 63 and 66 securities licenses, Wealth Management Advisor (WMA) designation, Health Insurance Counselors (HIC) license, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation, Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) designation, Long Term Care (LTC) certification and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
David Sokol was born and raised in Metro Detroit where he currently resides with his family. Before he began his career in business, David served as an Armyofficer in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and received the Bronze Star. He holds an MBA from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, as well as a Bachelor of Science in general engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. Due to David’s service to our nation, Wilshire Benefits Group, Inc. qualifies as a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).
David is extremely devoted to his family and is involved with numerous charitable organizations in the community. His team believes strongly in supporting the past, present and future defenders of freedom who serve in our Armed Forces around the world. As a founding Board member, David was instrumental in helping to realize the Veteran’s Tribute of Oakland Township, dedicated to all those who serve or have served this great country. Director of Operations
Angela Mitchell is the Director of Operations at Wilshire Benefits Group. Angela is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), a licensed health and life agent in the state of Michigan and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Administration with a concentration in Leadership at Central Michigan University. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University College of Human Ecology.
Angela began her career in the insurance industry 20 year ago and has had the opportunity to work in several different capacities in the industry including support, sales, marketing, product development and operations.
Angela feels fortunate to have found such a rewarding career and is passionate about introducing the next generation to the insurance industry. In her capacity as Operations Director, Angela is skilled at finding the best and brightest to accommodate Wilshire Benefits’ rapid growth. She is also an invaluable asset in coaching and mentoring fellow teammates to hone their skills and improve their knowledge on a daily basis.
Angela enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two teenage sons who keep her busy with their school activities, including bowling and golf. She has served on her local school board and currently serves on the advisory board for the health sciences CTE program at her community high school. She also makes sure to find a few hours each week to practice her new-found love of yoga.
Manager, Underwriting and Analytics
Mandy is not only a member our Wilshire Benefits Group Leadership Team, she has also been a driving force behind the evolution and growth of the organization. As the Manager of Underwriting and Analytics, Mandy stays current with the latest market trends, ACA compliance, product availability and underwriting guidelines. Her analytical and technical skills allow her to evaluate the overall benefits and costs of employee health and welfare platforms, while providing creative, cost effective solutions. In addition to personally managing the financial analysis and underwriting for Wilshire’s largest clients, Mandy is responsible for training, developing, and supporting our team of Financial Analysts. Her dedication to continued learning and improvement in all aspects of her team’s performance is another stellar example of her leadership and The Wilshire Way.
Mandy completed her undergraduate degree from Saginaw Valley State University and went on to earn an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Michigan-Flint. Mandy has her life and health license and is currently pursuing a Certified Self Funding Specialist Designation. She is also a member of the Metro Detroit Association of Health Underwriters and the Financial Management Association.
Mandy resides in Grand Blanc with her husband and two children. She is passionate about raising money for cancer research and volunteers her time by participating in Flint’s, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Senior Benefit Consultant
Brad has 18 years of expertise in guiding corporate leaders and plan administrators in the development of comprehensive and cost-effective benefit packages with special attention to regulatory compliance. Brad earned his Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Michigan, a Group Benefits Associate degree (GBA) from the Wharton School, and is ACA Certified by the National Association of Health Underwriters. His consultation experience extends to health and welfare plans with multiple union contracts and complex plan designs, including assistance with labor negotiations, and his knowledge of the intricacies of benefit compliance is unparalleled.
Brad is an active member of the Metro Detroit Association of Health Underwriters (MDAHU).
Brad and his wife make their home in Northville, where he is heavily involved in school and educational activities with his two young daughters. When the weather is inviting, Brad is also an avid golfer.
Senior Benefit Consultant
Lisa Chorazyczewski, brings 27 years of experience to her position at Wilshire Benefits Group. Lisa is a Registered Health Underwriter, is certified by CMS to provide Medicare products, and is a licensed health and life agent in the States of Michigan and Florida. Lisa’s breadth of experience in the employee benefits industry has allowed her to build strong relationships with carriers, Third Party Administrators (TPAs), and her valued clients. Throughout her career, Lisa has managed a diverse array of employer groups, both small and large. She is skilled in navigating the many types of funding arrangements as a benefit consultant and has worked in direct marketing for several insurance carriers. Lisa’s extensive knowledge of payroll and benefit administration platforms allows her to assist her employer clients in navigating the technologies that can be utilized for streamlining day-to day human resource processes. As a senior consultant, Lisa also provides guidance to her clients on ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and other compliance areas that may be of concern to most employers.
Lisa’s dedication to legendary customer service inspires trust and fosters strong relationships with her clients and vendor partners. She truly embodies the Wilshire Way in everything she does. In addition to contributing to the leadership team at Wilshire Benefits, Lisa is active on the agent advisory council for McLaren Health, and Wilshire Benefits was honored to announce that Lisa is a participant in the Leadership Oakland program.
Lisa resides in Rochester Hills with her husband and family and is active in her community as well. She supports the Matilda R. Wilson Boys & Girls Club of Auburn Hills and is a member of 100 Faithful Friends.
Senior Benefit Consultant
Mark has a depth and breadth of knowledge in the employee benefits industry, accumulated over 22 years of working for benefits consulting firms, third party administrators and a national stop loss insurance carrier. Prior to joining Wilshire Benefits, Mark spent significant portions of his career in senior financial analyst and underwriting roles, as well as account management and sales positions. Most of his career has been focused on benefit consulting for mid-market and large employer groups, primarily in a self-funded environment.
Mark was born and raised in Metro Detroit where he currently resides with his family. Mark holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Walsh College where he majored in Finance. Mark balanced a full-time class schedule while working full time for The Ritz Carlton Hotel Company. The time spent with the Ritz Carlton sharpened his focus on the importance of customer service; an experience he carries with him today and applies daily. Mark’s analytical skills and strong belief in providing the highest level of customer service, allows him to provide intelligent planning and analysis of group benefit programs, as well as educate and engage employees to get the most value out of their benefit plans. In addition, Mark works extremely hard to ensure problem resolution and advocacy while maximizing the value of dollars spent on employer sponsored benefit plans.
Mark is married with three children. He and his wife spend most of their time supporting their children’s various sports interests and endeavors. In addition, he and his wife are involved with various charitable organizations as well as booster organizations in support of their children’s schools and sports. For fun they like to hitch up the camper and spend time relaxing at many of Michigan’s wonderful campgrounds, where Mark and his family can enjoy their hobbies of hiking, biking, and running.
